KidScents - Young Living Essential Oils

Young Living Essential Oils kids toothpaste, KidScents Slique, doesn’t disappoint when it comes to making the twice-daily tooth-brushing challenge safer and more fun.

Our boys are 6 and 2, which means teeth brushing is a hurdle to jump each morning and night – especially with our toddler. He cooperates about 10% of the time. The other 90%…well…it’s a battle.

But oral hygiene is important, so we get it done.

Now, teeth brushing may or may not be a challenge in your home. Nevertheless, finding a yummy kids toothpaste that’s free from harmful chemicals is an important task in keeping our kids safe and healthy.

Because what we put in, on and around our bodies matter…a lot!

The moist mouth area absorbs substances quickly. And it takes a while for kids to learn how to spit vs. swallow. So, we know some of that stuff is making its way into their bellies. Yuck.

But most conventional options contain stuff we shouldn’t be putting into our bodies.

Like many personal care products we find on the shelves these days, most kids toothpastes contain harmful chemicals that can negatively impact their health.

Finding a good one is no small feat.

Now, we’re not doctors or scientists, but our research reveals resounding consensus that we should be avoiding ingredients like…

Avoid these common kids toothpaste ingredients

Carrageenan is a food additive derived from red seaweed. It’s approved for use by the FDA, but health experts suspect it may cause inflammation and digestive issues in adults and children.

Sodium Laurel Sulfate is a detergent and surfactant that facilitates foaming in many mainstream personal care products, including toothpastes. The FDA has approved it and companies like Toms of Maine defend its safety. But, according to The Environmental Working Group, it’s a neurotoxin that may be linked to cancer.

Manufacturers use Parabens as preservatives in many mainstream personal care products. According to scientificamerican.com, “90 percent of typical grocery items contain measurable amounts of parabens, which is why even those who steer clear of potentially harmful personal care products also carry parabens around in their bloodstreams.” Because of exposure volume, experts are concerned about the cumulative effects of parabens. Exposure may impact hormones and lead to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive issues.

And then there’s Fluoride, which has been used for years in dental care products. Our drinking water also contains added fluoride to help prevent tooth decay in the greater population. But too much can actually lead to dental, bone and neurological development issues.

Now, this information isn’t all-inclusive; we just want to give you an idea what we’re dealing with in mainstream personal care products – specifically kids toothpaste.

It’s so important to find brands that keep our health in mind when developing their products.

That’s one of the reasons we love Young Living Essential Oils and their kids toothpaste, KidScents Slique

Young Living Essential Oils is committed to supporting customer health and helping more and more people “experience nature’s gifts of wellness.”

Kidscents has none of the scary ingredients listed above.

Young Living Essential Oils kids toothpaste, KidScents Slique, incorporates the company’s Thieves essential oil blend, which we diffuse almost daily in our home, especially during the cold, germy, winter months here in Connecticut.

We love that the kids are probably absorbing a little extra Thieves when they brush their teeth. Because instead of harmful chemicals, they’re getting some of nature’s good stuff from a company that goes above and beyond to ensure quality and purity.

The kids toothpaste, KidScents Slique, also incorporates Young Living’s Slique blend, which is a yummy citrus combination of grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon essential oils.

Our boys love the “lemonade” taste – it’s their favorite kids toothpaste so far!

Paul and I have tasted it, too. And it’s pretty darn good! According to Young Living Essential Oils, “this safe and effective blend promotes healthy teeth without the use of fluoride, dyes, synthetic colors, artificial flavors, or preservatives.” They say it’s safe to use multiple times per day – morning and night, as well as before and after meals.
