If you haven’t checked out my review on the Wild Willies Beard Straightener, I highly recommend giving it a look. This straightener is low profile, easy to use, and has been a go-to for me. But now, let’s see if Tame the Wild and Arkam can compete!

First Impressions: Tame the Wild vs. Arkam

Now that I’ve had a chance to compare Tame the Wild and Arkam, the first thing that stands out is how similar they are. While the branding is obviously different, when you look closely at the product specs and functionality, these two straighteners are incredibly alike. Both come with handy features like a carrying case and a beard comb, and Tame the Wild even includes an additional moisturizing soap.

This got me thinking—there’s a trend in the beauty industry called white labeling. Essentially, this is when one manufacturer creates a product and multiple companies slap their own branding on it. Based on the similarities between Tame the Wild and Arkam, I suspect something like this could be happening here.

Unboxing & Design

Let’s start by unboxing the Tame the Wild Beard Straightener. It has a solid design with a swivel cord for easy maneuverability and three buttons: power, plus, and minus for temperature control. It fits comfortably in the hand, making it easy to grip and use.

Now, let’s look at the Arkam Beard Straightener. Immediately, you can see the similarities. From the swivel cord to the button layout, the two straighteners are nearly identical, even down to small details like the placement of screws on the front panel.

Both models also come with similar voltage ratings: 100-240 volts for Arkam and 110-240 volts for Tame the Wild. Even the cords are virtually the same.

Performance & Heating

Now, let’s talk about performance. When I plugged in the Arkam, the LED display lit up with “off”—just like the instructions said it would. After holding the power button for two seconds, the temperature started climbing up to 355°F. Funny enough, I realized I was following the instructions for Tame the Wild, and Arkam was still behaving the same way!

After turning both straighteners up to 375°F, it became clear that the Arkam heats up noticeably faster and feels hotter at the top, compared to the Wild Willies. I measured the temperature, and indeed, Arkam’s heat distribution seemed a bit more intense, which could be a plus for those with very thick or coarse beards—but not ideal for me. I don’t want to go beyond 375°F, especially if I’m feeling that much heat on my skin.

Testing the Beard Straighteners

To give you the most accurate comparison, I tested both straighteners side by side. I used the Tame the Wild on one side of my beard and the Arkam on the other, both set at 355°F. As I straightened my beard, I noticed that both devices delivered similar results. However, the Arkam was noticeably hotter against my skin, to the point where it felt uncomfortable. The Tame the Wild provided a more controlled, even heat, and didn’t feel as harsh.

When it comes to temperature settings, both straighteners offer a wide range of options—from 250°F to 450°F. While that sounds great, I found that the 12 different temperature options were a bit much. Personally, I don’t think you need that many increments between settings. A simpler system with just the essential temperature ranges would make more sense, especially when the differences are only 20°F between each.

Final Thoughts: Which One is Right for You?

So, what’s the verdict? After trying all three beard straighteners (including Wild Willies), here’s where I stand:

• Wild Willies is still my favorite. It has the best heat distribution and is much more comfortable for my beard, especially if you prefer a manageable temperature. It’s easy to use and doesn’t overwhelm you with too many settings.
• Tame the Wild and Arkam are incredibly similar, almost to the point where they could be the same product with different branding. Both heat up quickly and have a lot of temperature settings, but I found Tame the Wild to be a little less aggressive with its heat. If you have a thick beard and need something stronger, Arkam might be the way to go—but be cautious of the high heat if your skin is sensitive.
